International Conference 2006


The first International Bookstart Conference was held on the 23 September 2006 as part of the IBBY Conference in Macau China.
 
Requests for an international conference had been received from a number of countries and the half-day event was well received by representatives from around the world.

Delegates were interested in finding about the concept of early book-sharing and about various Bookstart programmes.

Some intend to explore the possibility of starting similar programmes in their own counties.

Presentations were given by Bookstart UK and by the affiliated programmes of Bookstart Japan, Bookstart Taiwan, Bookstart Thailand and by Fundalectura, Columbia.

All the presenters have kindly given permission for us to display their Powerpoint presentations which were given at the conference. This should help to increase awareness of Bookstart and illustrate the similarities and differences in programmes around the world.
